This past weekend, I attended the annual gourd festival in casagrande, arizona which takes place the second weekend of February at Pinal county fairground and is hosted by the Weurtz family with their gourd farm down the road. Since I have recently started painting gourds, this event is useful and also inspiring. There are raw gourds for sale of all shapes and sizes. Sometimes you can look at a gourd and immediately see what it will become.

Also, Tony Redhouse, tucson performer and healer of the Dine’ (Navajo ) nation, played music and did an eagle dance and hoop dance. As he is a friend, it was good to see him again.
